Florida County Histories Bibliography

Compiled 1988 by
Beverly Pittman Byrd - Librarian, Florida Collection
Joyce Elder - Editorial Assistant

Revised 2001 by
Cynthia Wise - Librarian, Florida Collection

INTRODUCTION

This bibliography began in response to a specific reference question. It expanded to become a working file to aid librarians and patrons in the Florida Collection as a reference tool to locate the most usable histories of each county.

It is not intended to be a complete listing in the sense of containing every history that has ever been produced of each county or even everything that is available in the Florida Collection.

Materials are generally available on interlibrary loan from the circulating collection of the State Library. Those that are only found in the non-circulating Florida Collection are marked with an asterisk (*). These must be used in the Dorothy Dodd Room of the State Library of Florida. Call numbers of books in the circulating collection are to the left of the Florida Room call numbers.
